Tell us about your breakthrough career moment

I have had a few breakthrough moments, really.

When I first moved industry from magazine publishing as an editor to being a public relations director in an agency. That propelled my career in public relations in hospitality sector. A decade after I made a lateral move to a communications agency that offers learning and development for their clients too. That opened my eyes to a potential of combining my passion for teaching and my expertise in communications. Now I have founded my own company that does just that!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever had?

Read books. There is no way around it. In Indonesian language (my native) there is an expression: ‘a book is a window to the world’.

Have you ever felt held back as a women?

Especially as a woman of colour, an immigrant with an accent at that, I have experienced subtle doubts of others that I can actually deliver. But the biggest set back is that I cannot access start up business loan because of the timing of my visa expiry date (even though I have all intention to stay in the UK forever but this intention is not something written in the passport.)
